Antibacterial Activity of Oregano Essential Oil and its Effect on Biofilm Formation
نویسندگان
چکیده
To generate oregano essential oil, the leaves and flowering tops of Origanum vulgare plant go through process known as steam distillation. This oil is for its antibacterial activity. Bacterial biofilms are microbial communities attached to inert surfaces or tissues encapsulated in complex matrices. Planktonic bacteria reversibly attach surfaces, form microcolonies, polymeric matrices around biofilms. Bacteria provide with a safer way reproduce survive. research tests activity effect on biofilm formation Oregano oil. The were tested against five bacterial strains, including Escherichia coli ATCC 14169, 25922, Staphylococcus aureus NCTC 12393, 25923, 6538. concentrations that used this 100%(v/v), 75%(v/v), 50%(v/v), 25%(v/v). best was achieved 12393 at 25%(v/v) concentration. While performing experiment, variety had significant results further be performed.

The effect of subinhibitory concentrations of satureja spp. essential oils on the biofilm formation and urease activity of Klebsiella pneumoniae
Background: Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most important bacteria that cause nosocomial infections. This opportunistic pathogen has a high potential for antibiotic resistance and can generate a thick layer of biofilm. Nowadays, antibiotic resistant strains are emerging and widely spreading worldwide. Thus, it is necessary to combat drug-resistant strains through the use of novel drugs (su...
متن کاملAntibacterial Activity of Copaiba Oil Gel on Dental Biofilm
UNLABELLED Amazonian biodiversity products that have been used for years in folk medicine, have emerged as feasible and promising alternatives for the inhibition of microorganisms in dental biofilm. Copaiba oil, a phytotherapic agent widely used by the Amazonian populations, is known for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anesthetic, healing and antitumor medicinal properties. OBJECTIVE Th...
متن کاملOriganum vulgare subsp. hirtum essential oil prevented biofilm formation and showed antibacterial activity against planktonic and sessile bacterial cells.
Essential oils from six different populations of Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum were compared for their antibiofilm properties. The six essential oils (A to F) were characterized by a combination of gas chromatography with flame ionization detector and gas chromatography with mass spectrometer detector analyses. All oils showed weak activity against the planktonic form of a group of Staphylococ...

the central purpose of this study was to conduct a case study about the role of self monitoring in teacher’s use of motivational strategies. furthermore it focused on how these strategies affected students’ motivational behavior. although many studies have been done to investigate teachers’ motivational strategies use (cheng & d?rnyei, 2007; d?rnyei & csizer, 1998; green, 2001, guilloteaux & d?...
simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
